The owner and president of Next Frontier Recovery in Richmond, VA, David Rook has over a decade of experience in leadership roles with various organizations in the addiction recovery field. Mr. Rook’s first management role in the field of substance use treatment and recovery was with the McShin Foundation. From 2012 to 2016, he served as operations manager, supervising employees and maintenance staff, ensuring adherence to policies, developing and implementing operational policies to optimize performance, and implementing strategic initiatives. His dedication to the role earned him the 2015 McShin Foundation’s Employee of the Year Award.
From 2017 to 2022, Mr. Rook was a partner and president of True Recovery RVA. In less than 5 years, he led the organization to become the area’s largest provider of recovery residence beds. Furthermore, from 2014 to 2022, he served as board president of the Virginia Association of Recovery Residents, securing the necessary funds to expand recovery residences across the state.
At Next Frontier Recovery, Mr. Rook currently oversees all activities crucial to operational success. He focuses on organizational growth and sustainability, teamwork, and high-quality services. He also ensures that programs and facilities comply with relevant regulations, including the Virginia Association of Recovery Residences (VARR) standards. In 2024, he received the VARR Trailblazers Award. He is also an educator for the National Association for Alcoholism and Drug Abuse Counselors and has presented at numerous recovery conferences nationwide.
